How to Celebrate International Women’s Day 2022
Celebrate IWD 2022 Your Way
International Women's Day is upon us again. March 8 is a day to celebrate women's achievement and promote equality. You can do this in a variety of ways from high tea with your favourite ladies to global activism.
However you choose to celebrate International Women's Day, be sure to celebrate yourself, the incredible women in your life, and notable women you admire.
Support #BreakTheBias
Each year sees a new theme for International Women’s Day. This year the theme is Break the Bias, a call to action campaign to actively call out gender bias, discrimination and stereotyping each time you see it. People around the world are encouraged to show their commitment to gender equality on social media.
This year we’re emboldened to strike a pose with arms crossed in an X formation using #BreakTheBias #IWD2022. Joining the movement to commit to calling out gender bias in our communities, workplaces, education facilities, and even homes, will help bring us closer to equality for all.
So, do it yourself, or grab your friends, co-workers, community members and encourage everyone to show their support for women and gender equality. Let’s Break the Bias and fast track a diverse, equitable, and inclusive world for all.
Support Women-Owned Businesses
You’re reading this on an online store. We know you love to shop. So do we. This International Women’s Day, let’s discover women-owned businesses and choose to support them. Chances are, with so many women-owned businesses out there, you’re already shopping with them.
If you shop with us, you’re supporting a woman-owned and run business. Our team of talented women work collaboratively to bring you the swimsuits and beachwear you love. You can feel fabulous about your purchase knowing you are supporting women in business.
Women-owned, inclusive brands, and friends of Curvy Swimwear include Remmie, owned by our fabulous model Riley Hemson, Styling You The Label, by the talented Nikki Parkinson, and Active Truth, by friends Stevie and Nadia. Shopping with these brands is a feelgood experience that supports women supporting women.
Donate to Charity
There are many charities that directly support women in need. In Australia we can donate money, products, and time to the following organisations who are creating positive change for women across the country.
Support the Girls Australia helps disenfranchised and isolated women by providing them with essential items such as bras, feminine hygiene products, and services to improve their way of life.
Share the Dignity distribute period products to anyone who menstruates and needs support. They aim to end period poverty in Australia having already assisted in axing the tampon tax in 2018.
Dress for Success is a global organisation that also supports women in Australia. They provide professional attire for low-income women to help support their job search and interview process.
NATSIWA – National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s Alliance empowers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women to have a strong and effective voice nationally to advance gender and race equality.
If you want to send your support further afield this list offers some excellent global initiatives for women's empowerment.
Celebrate the Women in Your Life
Ok, so this is the one you really want. Getting together with your favourite ladies and celebrating the gosh darn heck out of one other over a bottomless Mimosas! Go forth and cheer each other on for being amazing women in the most fabulous way you can imagine.
Whether you choose to honour the day with a corporate breakfast, a high tea with your mum and nan, a bottomless brunch with your besties, or you hit it hard with your sister at your favourite bar, International Women’s Day should be a day to celebrate being a woman.
Let the women in your life know how incredible they are by raising a glass and toasting one another at a celebratory get together. Share your hopes and dreams for the future or work through any challenges you may be facing in your day to day life.
If that all becomes a little too serious, hit the nearest karaoke bar and line up some Whitney to give your celebration some much needed girl power!
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY!!
